Early childhood education has recently been in the spotlight of many initiatives and federal grants geared at improving the overall academic achievement in the United States. The U.S. Department of Education has the responsibility of improving the education system by analyzing and constructing innovative approaches to learning through theoretical research. The Creative Curriculum® is one of the few approved curriculums by early childhood grants and state quality rating improvement systems.
Diane Trister Dodge, founder and president of Teaching Strategies, Inc., continues to have the same visions as she once did over thirty years ago when she developed The Creative Curriculum® (Teaching Strategies, 2011). In 1978, The Creative Curriculum® was designed with the mission to develop the best resources and services in order to enhance the quality of early childhood programs.
The Creative Curriculum® offers a holistic approach to learning and is designed to create passionate learners. Children are able to learn through a hands-on approach to learning which promotes confidence. The comprehensive and developmentally appropriate curriculum provides the theory and research to support its philosophy. Teachers at Rainbow Child Care Center are provided with the resources they need to create an effective environment to encourage children to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their ideas and make their own discoveries. Lesson planning support is also provided to the teachers as part of The Creative Curriculum® resources to ensure that lesson plans are designed to allow children to learn at their own pace and in the ways that meet their individual learning style.
