Early Parent Involvement is Key to Academic Success

There has been a lot of buzz lately about the importance of a parent’s involvement in their child’s life and education experiences and what impact that has on their later success in school. At Rainbow Child Care Center we recognize the importance of all families being comfortable in our schools and encouraging them to be involved. In general, the more involved a family is, the more satisfied they are with their child’s care arrangements.

Parent involvement can look a lot of different ways and parents can have various levels of involvement. Parent involvement can be as simple as donating recyclable materials to classrooms for special projects that your child will be working on. It also includes things like having two way communication with teachers daily, volunteering in your schools Parent Involvement Committee or volunteering to come in as guest speakers in your child’s class or to be involved with special projects. At Rainbow Child Care Centers, we offer parent-teacher conferences twice a year, to help encourage communication about your child’s development in a more formal setting. Regardless of how intensive your involvement is, the relationships formed between families and teachers should be one of mutual support and learning.

Though many of the children in our care at Rainbow Child Care Centers are not yet in a formal school setting, we want to set a foundation of positive experiences for children. Young children’s brains are rapidly developing and it is a critical time for things like attachment formation and language acquisition. If these opportunities are missed at this critical stage of development, it is much harder to make up for them later in life!

At Rainbow Child Care Centers we pride ourselves on being your child’s “home away from home.” This means we want you to always feel welcome and encourage you to get involved in whatever capacity you are able to. Your involvement matters to us and to your children! We encourage you to communicate with your Program Director and teachers to find ways to get involved and make a difference!
