Kindergarten readiness is the overarching theme of our Pre-K Academy curriculum. Teachers and children work together to begin to identify the style and type of learning techniques that resonate with each child. We believe that by allowing children to participate in this process, children share ownership of their education and become engaged participants in their learning.
Through interactive, age-appropriate activities, children continue to grow problem-solving skills, enhance their communication abilities and evolve social skills. Teachers track his or her progress through our child assessment portfolio system and daily communication tools in order to share information about your child’s development during your biannual Parent/Teacher Conferences.
Each of our child care centers is set up in a way to create a “your child’s home away from home” atmosphere. By Fostering Friendships, supporting Emerging Emotions, building Healthy Beginnings, Sparking Curiosity and promoting Language Development we ensure your little one is supported and taken care of.
Fostering Friendships supports your child as they develop relationships with their peers. It also helps them gain a sense of independence, confidence and the desire to discover. Our teachers build Fostering Friendships by modeling respectful relationships, discussing and reading books about friendship. They also provide opportunities for every child to work together as well as learn problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Emerging Emotions lays the foundation for children to learn how to understand their own feelings through positive social interactions with their teachers and peers. Our pre-k teachers build Emerging Emotions by acknowledging your child’s feelings. They respond promptly and consistently to your child’s needs, and they model cooperative behaviors. They also will talk to all children at their eye level and create areas in the classroom where children can work together.
Because we understand that pre-kindergarteners are constantly developing their mental and physical skills our teachers help them explore their environment and expand their horizons. Healthy Beginnings is made up of activities and games designed to help support muscle development, coordination, and manipulative skills. It will help your child master basic skills such as walking, running, hopping, jumping, kicking and balancing.
Throughout Pre-K Academy, we offer Ready, Set, GROW! Fit Foundations®, a program that promotes health and fitness. These hands-on experiences inspire Healthy Beginnings. With the ability to use our state-of-the-art gymnasiums and playgrounds. Our programming is consistent and year-round.Sparking Curiosity
Sparking Curiosity lays the cognitive framework for later learning and academic success We help your child Spark Curiosity by providing opportunities to build a positive approach to learning. Our teachers do this by teaching children to explore new concepts through hands-on activities, build their memory, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
During small group instruction, your child will receive academic lessons to strengthen math and science skills. Throughout the rest of the day, your child will explore intentional teaching in our Learning Centers to boost their curiosity, independence and life skills. Our Pre-K Academy Program also offers an all-inclusive Zoo-Phonics® Enrichment Program to support early literacy and reading.
We build Language Development with children by talking to them, along with using both verbal and non-verbal gestures. Our teachers also help your child build their receptive and expressive language through telling stories, reading books and singing songs.
Our thoughtfully designed activities will help your child listen to and understand increasingly complex language and use this language to express their thoughts and needs. Our Language Immersion Spanish program offers children an opportunity to expand their language development.
Parental involvement is an important component to the success of a child’s educational achievement. Children are more successful learners when their parents are actively involved in their learning, both at home and at school. Through our pre-k program, Home Connection Parent Guide, parents are given the tools they need to create meaningful learning experiences at home and track their child’s progress.
The Home Connection Guide includes:
A breakdown of the 38 research-based objectives defined by The Creative Curriculum©
An example Home Connection Activity for each objective using accessible household items to promote developmental growth
Access to the password protected parent portal that includes daily learning opportunities for parents to utilize to support their child
An approved book list to enhance developmental domains while promoting emergent literacy skills
A Parent Tracking chart that allows parents to visually monitor and record their child’s progress during their time at Pre-K Academy and through use of the Home Connection Activities
A map and stickers for children to visually track their progression through the objectives
