Trying to plan the perfect vacation is a difficult undertaking, and adding young children to the scenario does not tend to make the task any easier. With the following few traveling tips Rainbow Child Care Center hopes to make your next vacation a little less stressful.
Take your time.
Slow down, and take into consideration the pace at which your children can move, see things, and take in their environment. Attempting to cram too much into your itinerary will cause you and your family to feel stressed and overwhelmed. Who wants that on a vacation?
Give them a camera.
Whether it is disposable, polaroid, or digital- giving your child a camera to take their own pictures on a trip encourages them to observe their surroundings, and focus their attention.
Bring lots of time-passing activities.
If the journey ahead of you is long, remember to bring an abundance of attention grabbing activities. Find games, puzzles, coloring books, or anything that will keep your little one occupied while passing the time in transit.
Although everyone, adults and children alike, enjoy sweets feeding them to a young child when they will be cooped up on in a car, bus, train, or plane is never the best idea. Instead, pack a variety of healthy savory snacks that are both nutritious and filling.
Keep a travel journal.
Writing in a journal promotes advanced development in creativity, reading, communication, and handwriting. Journaling on a trip allows your child to notate their favorite vacation memories in a clever and productive manner.
Try to travel light.
Packing light is not always the easiest feat when you have young children, but when travelling try to back the bare minimum. Hefty packing makes navigating airports and public transit just that much more difficult. Remember, if there is an item you end up needing, you can always buy it at your destination.
